The login screen appears twice in Windows 11/10
There is a big bug where some people have to double login i.e. enter the password twice before they can login to windows and continue their work. I personally faced this issue where I had to login twice to access the desktop.
- Disable Use my credentials to automatically complete my device setup after an update or restart
- Disable Users must enter a username and password to use this computer
- Remove duplicate usernames.
1]Uncheck Use my credentials to automatically complete my device setup after an update or restart
If you’re using an older version of Windows and recently installed a Windows 10 feature update, your system will automatically use the credentials to prepare the device for the new update. This is the main reason why you keep seeing the login screen even after entering the login details.
You can disable this feature in the Windows settings. Go to accounts > connectivity. On the right you should find a privacy category. By default, the Use my credentials to automatically complete my device setup after an update or restart option is enabled.
You need to switch the key to the stopped Position disable this feature. After that, you shouldn’t experience the same problem on your computer anymore.
2]Disable Users must enter a username and password to use this computer
Although the above solution works in different cases, you can also use this trick to achieve it. Open the user account settings. To do this, press Win + R, enter netplwiz and press Enter. You will find an option called Users must enter a username and password to use this computer. By default, this option is enabled. You need to uncheck the box.
Now you need to enter username and password and restart your computer. After restarting your PC, open the same dialog box and re-enable the same feature.
Simply put, you turned auto-login on and off again.
Check out this message if the user needs to enter a username and password to use this computer option.
3]Remove duplicate usernames
- Open the RUN dialog from the start menu and type netplwiz.
- There will be two different usernames with the same name (As I’ve already solved the problem, I don’t have duplicate usernames.).
- Delete one of the users and the problem will be solved.
- Restart the window and check if the problem is resolved.
I hope these suggestions help you.
